Pre-wedding Photoshoot

Capture the first chapter of your story

An engagement photoshoot is your chance to slow down, celebrate a milestone, and capture your connection outdoors on a wild adventure. Whether as a stand-alone session or part of a pre-wedding package, it’s a great opportunity to commemorate one of the most exciting stages of your life. My aim is to create images that feel effortless and genuine, and give you a chance to feel at ease in front of the camera before your wedding day.

I typically book engagement photography sessions mid-week, making the most of the less busy Peaks and soft evening light. Just wear something comfortable that feels like ‘you’, no need to overthink it, and don’t let the weather hold you back! Some of my most memorable photographs have happened when we have just gone for it and embraced the elements, whether it’s a golden sunset or a windswept moor we just have a lot of fun together!

Highlight film package

One of the benefits of it being just the three of us on an engagement photo session, is that I have time to switch between taking still photographs and capturing moving video clips. So, if you'd like to add a highlight film of your pre-wedding photoshoot in the Peak District, then I can add it on to your package and we can achieve both in just one session. Please note I am not a videographer but a photographer who can film small sections of video whilst capturing still images to create a highlight film to music for you. This film was created portrait way for phones and social media reasons.

Frequently asked questions

What should we wear?

I always say to not overthink your clothing choices for your Engagement photoshoot. The only thing I would say is to not wear large logos and bright patterns, don’t wear identical matchy clothing but to compliment each other’s colour tones. Think of the season you are having your photographs in, we are in the wilds of the Peaks so you will be in heather and on rocks, on rough terrain so please wear appropriate footwear and layers so that you have options to take some off if you get warm.

How many images will we receive?

You will receive approximately 200 from your pre-wedding photo session. As a note, I never give the RAW files to my couples as they are massively large files that won't open unless you have the right software and editing know-how. You pay for my expertise to capture and to edit to my own unique romantic style.

Can we postpone if the weather is bad?

I will keep an eye on the weather leading up to your photoshoot. Only if it’s really severe adverse weather would I postpone your session as I take photos whatever the weather - if anything a moody sky can work to your advantage for some iconically great images. It can be quite windy on the edges, so hair will get blown about but we can often find some still moments between rocks. Because it's an outdoor adventure shoot, we will go for a little walk and just have a laugh and chat together.

I worried I won't know what to do infront of the camera...

Don't worry, I may know how to direct others but am absolutely clueless when I am on the other side of the camera so know that sometimes prompts and advice is welcome! Whilst my style is natural and organic, there will be times where I may direct where to put your hands and what to do so that more natural moments then unfold from this direction. There is no need to be nervous as its a very relaxed and informal photoshoot, where you will realise that you will be put at ease really quickly and this can prepare you for the portrait section of your Wedding day.
